Mood Lavender

Queerness Gets Its Due.

In production - produced and directed by Dr. Robert Philipson

Mood Lavender brings out the essential queerness not only of many of the major players of the Harlem Renaissance but of the sensibility and achievement that made the Renaissance one of the high points of Black culture in America. This emphasis on Black transformation through art, and largely “high” art, helped deemphasize the Harlem Renaissance’s inherent queerness. Although now widely written about in academia, this recognition that the Harlem Renaissance is a part of LGBTQ history has yet to spread to the culture at large. Mood Lavender will change that.

Now in Production
